Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo campus welcomed local high school seniors to learn about Cuesta Promise Day on Friday, Oct. 18.
The 5th Annual Promise Day commenced at the gymnasium with Cuesta College faculty, staff and financial aid speakers informing the students about Cuesta Promise with step-by-step instructions on how to apply for the Fall 2020 semester.
The students then were released to the workshops. This year, Cuesta College decided to add the workshops so students could get a better feel about student life at the San Luis Obispo campus.
The workshops for the students were provided by most of Cuesta College’s academic departments, including:Â Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Music, Physical Sciences, Engineering Technology, Nursing, Social Sciences, Athletics, Culinary Arts, English, Fine Arts, Business, Accounting, Economics, and Criminal Justice.
The workshops were around 30 minutes each, and some of them included hands-on activities. Students learned about financial aid, pathways, engineering, how to apply for scholarships and more.
The event ended with lunch, where students not only enjoyed the campus environment but they also participated in the resource fair at Cougar Park, which was similar to the workshops but shorter and more interactive.Â
