Cuesta College’s first football team reunited on campus to catch up with teammates, share memories and enjoy food and drinks after 40 years.

The largest junior college swim invitational in the state was held at Cuesta’s pool, where 27 schools met to compete for the fastest time in the water.
It is a hot summer afternoon with the sun shining, meaning it is a perfect day to go out to a baseball game and enjoy America’s pastime with some friends. But, as fans arrive, their favorite player is not in the game.
Ryan Teixeira, characterized by many as an outstanding Arroyo Grande High School student athlete and friend to many at Cuesta, was honored at a memorial March 19 after losing a battle with cancer earlier in the month.
Not only did Cuesta recently bring in its first two cross country state titles in three decades — the champions, Miranda Daschian and Sean McDermott — are actually dating, making them the quickest community college couple in California.
The annual City to Sea half marathon and 5K is back, with registration happening now. The race helps Cuesta College sports teams with some of their funding for the season.
Cuesta College’s Athletic Department is being honored once again, with one coach winning conference coach of the year and the other being inducted to the California Wrestling Hall of Fame.
