The Central Coast was blessed with an intimate performance by The Beach Boys’ founding member, Al Jardine.
On November 16, Jardine played at The Siren, located in Morro Bay, Calif., for his endless summer tour, with help from his son Matthew Jardine and his music mentor. Jardin sang hits such as “Help Me Rhonda,†“Surfin’ USA,†and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,†just to name a few. The Siren is a local bar and restaurant music venue. This was Al’s first time in Morro Bay. He started doing solo shows apart from the band about a year ago.
Al shared a bunch of different stories about songwriting processes, and what it was like working with Brian Wilson and the other members of The Beach Boys. Throughout the show, he kept forgetting stories, lyrics and chords, so his son Matt had to keep him on track and help him remember. Al is such a sweet and humble guy; he made sure to thank everyone who came out to the show and did a free meet and greet.
