Superman
I can’t believe this is even up for discussion. He literally can not be killed, except when he comes in contact with kryptonite (which doesn’t exist on earth, so good luck finding some).
He is proof we are not alone in this universe, which when you think about it is pretty awesome.
He saves people, and doesn’t just beat up bad guys. He is a great influence on kids and is someone they can look up to and aspire to be. Even though he’s an “alien†he is capable of love, see Lois Lane. Another plus, no bias here, he is a journalist in his free time.
Superman doesn’t need any gadgets to fight, he has his strength, ability to fly and his laser vision. Superman also doesn’t need a sidekick or butler like Batman does.
Even the dictionary agrees he’s the epitome of a superhero: “a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman.†He’s literally the definition.
Bottom line, Superman would win in a fight against Batman. Need I say more?

Batman
Ah Batman, how we love thee, let me count the ways.
First and foremost the caped crusader is a self made “superhero relying on skills he forged himself in the crucible that is Gotham. His intelligence, agility, physical strength, mental prowess and non lethal combat skills are not some genetic gift passed onto him at birth like some loser alien. No, this hero earned the fear he evokes in criminals through years of grueling training.
Secondly, the all around awesomeness that is the Bat, is only rivaled by his alter ego. Bruce Wayne- a billionaire playboy with a suave and debonair demeanor whom has great taste in cars and ladies (see the batmobile and Selina Kyle respectively). Sure beats being some geeky four eyed reporter. On that note don’t even get me started on the costumes.
Thirdly, that theme song. You know the one. Changes are you’re singing it in your head right now. Na na na na na na na na Batman! Batman! And it has only grown exponentially better since the campy 70s show, ala Tim Burton and Danny Elfman’s theme  to Christopher Nolan and Han Zimmer’s epic score. Seriously does Supes even have a theme song?
Lastly, a hero is only as phenomenal as his villain, and boy does Bats know how to pick em. Enter the joker. A villain so phenomenal every rendition of him has been praised from Romero to Nicholson, from Hamill to Ledger, the clown prince of crime can sport and face and even no face at all. He is a villain so phenomenal  that he is constantly ranked as the number one comic book villain on nearly every single list to have such a ranking. If you were to ask me where that bald Tony Stark Wannabe sits at on those lists I could only assume old Lex is somewhere in the honorable mentions.
He is vengeance, he is the night, he is critically and financially more successful, he is Batman.
