Cuesta College students and faculty recited poems out loud at the North County Campus Library on November 7.
Denise Fourie, Reference Librarian/Library Technology Instructor at Cuesta College, organizes poetry meetings once or twice a semester. Students, staff and community members are welcomed to share poetry and/or listen.
Every poetry meeting has a different theme. The fall 2019 theme was, “The Language of Poetry: Readings in your Favorite Language.†The participants read poems in English, Spanish, Russian and Angloxazon. The participants also had the chance to take a book home as a reward.
Cuesta College, in addition to the poetry events, has a creative writing contest called Tellus. Tellus is the annual literary journal published at Cuesta College. The submissions consist of poetry, short fiction and essays.
