Women striving to make an impact in business and leadership are invited to learn, connect and be inspired at Cal Poly’s first Women in Leadership Symposium. Cal Poly Women’s Basketball is partnering with Mission Community Services Community Women’s Business Center (WBC) to host this event of female empowerment and diverse knowledge. The event is on May 3, from 1-4:30 p.m. in the Cal Poly Multi Activity Center, free and open to the public.
The invitation is also on the WBC SLO Instagram, stating: “We would love for you to attend and be part of this empowering experience. It’s a great opportunity to engage with leaders and build meaningful connections.”
Designed to foster meaningful connections and empower women in business and leadership, the symposium will feature keynote speaker Christina Mancini, CEO of Black Girls Code. Black Girls Code is teaching young girls how to lead in the tech world. Their website says “we spark interest in elementary school, build technical and leadership skills in middle and high school, and create pathways into college, careers, and entrepreneurship.” Along with a special guest appearance by Carla Cortijo, a former WNBA player. According to ESPN, Carla Cortijo, born in Puerto Rico, played guard for the Texas Longhorns in college and the Atlanta Dream in her professional career.
Attendees can expect intentional networking opportunities, insightful discussions and a chance to engage with leaders from across the community.
