Baseball (18-16)
Cuesta baseball welcomed Moorpark to start off a three-game series. The games were split with both teams having an opportunity to play at home. The Cougars got off to a slow start in game one at Cuesta, struggling to find rhythm in the field, making five errors that allowed six unearned runs. In the fourth inning, sophomore Jak Sinclair went deep to get Cuesta’s offense going, making the score 7-3 Moorpark. Cuesta couldn’t complete the comeback, resulting in a 10-8 loss.
After a tough loss in the first game, Cuesta then turned it around the next two days, as the bullpen helped Cuesta to win. Sophomore Jack Stannard saved the day for Cuesta in game three by getting out of a bases-loaded jam and earning the win, putting Stannard’s record at 3-1. Freshman closer Benjamin Straw collected the save to help the Cougars win back-to-back games to capture the series against Moorpark, a 6-0 win on Thursday and an 8-5 win on Saturday.
Softball (11-22)
Cuesta softball hosted Moorpark at home on March 31. Both teams scored in the first inning and Moorpark led 4-3. Moorpark put up 10 more and ultimately shut down the Cougars with a final score of 14-6.
Cuesta played its second game of the week on the road in Oxnard on April 2. The Cougars had zero runs through six innings, while Oxnard led 4–0.
