Cuesta College’s student email, my.cuesta.edu, was down Friday evening through Monday morning, officially being restored around 8:40 a.m. Monday.
When students tried to use their emails over the weekend, they received a message with the subject “Undeliverable: <subject>” when attempting to send.
“The network team is working to restore email functionality for the college,” said Keith Stearns, Cuesta’s Executive Director of Information Technology in an email to Cuesta staff and faculty obtained by the Cuestonian. “The IT team is still working with the vendor on a solution, but we do not have a time estimate for a solution at this time.”
About 30 minutes later, staff and faculty were notified that student emails were once again working properly.
Though it is still unclear what caused the outage, Stearns offered a clarification for students and faculty.
“Emails sent from outside cuesta.edu were not affected by the outage. Emails from cuesta.edu to my.cuesta.edu were not being properly delivered,” Stearns said.
