Cuesta College is presenting a business seminar in SLO for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The free three and a half hour business seminar will take place at the Pacific Gas & Electric Education Center, starting Sept. 13.

The event is put on by the Cuesta College Foundation, the Cuesta College Marketing Department, Cuesta business teacher Gary Rubin, and sponsored by PG&E.

Included with the seminar will be a 50-page handout prepared by Rubin with links to additional resources for additional education in legal, accounting, tax, management, and marketing.

“I started this project with those in mind who are in a business, or are self-employed, or are considering self-employment, but who have little formal education in business,” said Rubin, who has been teaching business classes at Cuesta for 15 years. “This is a crash course for the small business owner, welder, hair stylist, contractor, yogurt shop owner, and anybody else who seeks to make the move, or has already made the leap, from employee to self-employment/business ownership.”

Rubin has been educating students for 28 years and serves as the College’s North County Coordinator of the Workforce & Economic Development cluster.

Since 1985, Rubin has been a member of the California Bar, which is a regulatory body that licenses attorneys in California.

The event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
