Your resume is often the first impression of you that a potential employer sees. Before they speak with you on the phone or meet you in person, they have gleaned important information about you from it. Crafting an effective one however, can be can be a daunting task. It doesn’t have to be though, and there are resources on campus that can help you create a creative and eye catching resume.
“I think the resume is usually the first thing employers see about you,†said Shamara Giannetto, the employment services coordinator,“It’s now being promoted as a marketing tool. “I think it’s really important to know how to write a really good resume.â€
Career connections will be hosting a resume writing workshop on Mar 24 in room 5305 at 3 p.m. to assist students with their resumes as well as provide tips on how to best represent yourself to potential employers.
“It [the workshop] is to help students prepare, “ Gianetto said. “With the job fair on April 26 we’re going to have a lot of different industries…and they are looking to hire students.â€
While the workshop is originally designed for students looking for work in the medical field there will be information available for anyone for anyone who might need help with their resume.
“We did include some information that’s specific to medical but the overall information were going to be sharing would be good for anyone who is starting the process or who is looking to refine their resume,“ Giannetto said.
