San Francisco based artist, Emily Gui, will be displaying her latest work entitled “Dwelling†at the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery during the summer.
Gui is a mixed-media artist who mostly works with a technique called “cyanotypeâ€. Cyanotype is a kind of photography or can be used in printmaking that uses a cyan blue process. In Gui’s case, she blends the two together.
“Dwelling†is a series that is dedicated to illustrating the combination of domestic living spaces blended with objects that are filled with emotion and memory.
“We’re excited,†said Emma Saperstine, gallery coordinator. “I think her work is beautiful and unique. The idea of home and space is very accessible work.â€
Using this technique, she has taken photographs and skewed these images with more mass made objects or scenes, blending photography, printmaking, and collaging.
Gui’s exhibit is set to open on June 21 and have discussion about the series at 4:30 to 7:30 p.m..
In addition, Gui will be holding a cyanotype demonstration and workshop on Friday June 22 at 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Gui’s work will be displayed June 21 through July 22 at the gallery.
