Cuesta is holding informational sessions regarding the University of California Transfer Admission Guarantee (UC TAG) for community college students.
The UC TAG is offered at six UC schools including Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz. The TAG is a supplement to the actual application.
In order for the TAG to be valid, students must have acquired 30 UC transferable credits from a California Community College when applying, and then have 60 by the time of the college transfer.
Students must complete a specific set of courses according to the student’s chosen major and maintain a solid 2.7 to 3.5 GPA. Students must apply for the TAG by September and apply to a UC by Nov. 30.
“It’s a four step thing… [ask yourself]  what do you need for a TAG, when does it need to be done, what is needed for the GPA, and what Cuesta classes are transferrable,†said Thea Labrenz, the session speaker and Cuesta counsellor.
“Counsellors can tell you exactly what [classes] to take… what we do is make a student ED plan so that you know what to take and what you plan to take to prepare for your TAG,†said Labrenz.
UC TAG Info sessions will be held in the Student Center of SLO campus, Room 5403, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at 11 to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 10 to 11 a.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 1 to 2 p.m.
