If you are looking a Community College that is connected with nationally ranked Cal Poly, Cuesta is your college.
This marks the second year for the rodeo club which now boasts  approximately 30 members.
The club practices primarily at the Cal Poly arena with their team. The practices are most days occur most weekdays.
The Rodeo Club, was formed during the fall 2014 semester via the Associated Students of Cuesta College it consists of  members who are both passionate about rodeo and dedicated to their education; each member is a full-time Cuesta College student.
Cuesta works closely with the academic side, as well as the rodeo side, of Cal Poly to help students succeed at pursuing their education in a timely manner, while still excelling in their sport of rodeo.
The club main focus is to motivate its student athletes to excel in the classroom and the rodeo arena. Students must maintain good grades and stay fully engaged in their collegiate experience in order to remain eligible to compete in the events that they attend. It has forged a partnership with Cal Poly and practices at the Cal Poly rodeo arena alongside the university’s rodeo club members.
The club allows its members the ability to rodeo as a points team in the NIRA, National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
Competition events are limited to the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeos and the last Regional rodeo for this year takes place in Las Vegas
The club has even enjoyed some success in the past. Two members of the Cuesta College Rodeo Club placed 7th in the team roping competition at the 2015 College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, WY.
Currently the Men’s team is is placed  second in the region and seventh in the nation.
“We have a good chance of sending our first ever Men’s team to the College National Finals Rodeo in only our second year as a club and team.†Clint Pearce, Volunteer Coach,said
