Hundreds of students gathered in the student center Tuesday, March 24, to enjoy free food and music and to join the ASCC as they hosted “Cuesta’s Amazing Race.â€
The race was a scavenger hunt around campus, that was designed to get students more familiar with their resources on campus and what Cuesta has to offer to it’s students. The hunt included: taking a selfie with your ASCC President, take a picture of a retired employee plaque, take a picture with your favorite Cuesta Instructor or staff member, visiting the health center and many more.
The race began at 11:45 a.m. with prizes being offered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. The first place team was awarded two kindles, second place was awarded two $25 gift cards and third place is awarded two $15 gift cards.
“The event is going great. We have a lot of students participating and coming to the tables and talking to community members…We have our health center and campus police here, and many local business showed support as well,†said Anthony Gutierrez, Cuesta’s coordinator of student life and leadership.
With Spring Break right around the corner, the ASCC wanted to give students ideas for what to do to have a “safe Spring Break.† Vista Lago Adventure Park had representatives there to talk about different packages they offer for ziplining and obstacles courses; as well as other information about local events happening in San Luis Obispo County.
“Overall it’s been a great event,†said Gutierrez.
